Personal, Social, Health and Economic

phsePersonal, Social, Health and Economic covers a wide range of topics such as: safety, behaving well, personal finance, emotional health and well-being, sex and relationships, drugs and alcohol education, nutrition and physical activity. It builds on work across the curriculum that enables children to learn more about themselves as developing individuals and as members of their community.
At the school the emphasis is on the Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) as part of the overall PSHE content. So children will discuss aspects of

  • Understanding another’s point of view
  • Working in a group
  • Sticking at things when it gets difficult
  • Resolving conflict
  • Managing worries

For example a group of children might discuss the best way to say no to a friend without hurting their feelings, when you’re too busy or have other plans to play with them.
